Award winning ad on CNN for Kenya

Kenya on the scene again with the best running ad on CNN award winner

Kenya gets yet another award after being regarded as having run the best tourism ad on CNN in a rank that saw Kenya beat over 100 ads from tourism destinations worldwide.

Kenya is slowly but sure trying to recover it’s position as a tourism destination with it’s participation in the various tourism fairs. In January 2010 they participated in Madrid FITUR with an important representation from the KTB and also a few travel agents.

This month they are in Berlin at the ITB with an aim to recapture the source market which in the last year has seen it’s numbers decrease leaving Italy as the leading source market for Kenya. They are actually keen on promoting tourism in the coast area as this is already known to the Germans who have ever since loved Kenyan beaches ensuring them that Kenya is still that very unique option for a beach safari, without forgetting the possibilities of other tourism activities within reach. Other upcoming tourism products Kenya is promoting world over is Golf. Kenya boasts numerous quality golf courses around the country. Very few Golf lovers however know that Kenya is one of the rare places around the world where it is possible to practice the game during the whole year.

Kenya was at it’s best in the year 2007 when the figures relating to the number of international tourists hit an all time high bringing in very high returns which translated into job creation and a boost to the local economy. This now remains the target for a good start. So much is going on to make sure that issues regarding security are dealt with and also the infrastructures are set to acceptable if not outstanding standards which meet the international requirements.

Conservation work is also going on. A good example is the inauguration of the Aberdares fence which has taken years to construct but now complete. The fence is aimed at impeding human encroachment in the water tower, on which most of the surrounding areas and the reserves depend. Recently we also saw the intervention of the government in the Mau conservation area with the aim of recovering the forest cover. This will help a great deal in conserving our flora and fauna in the national parks. It is also hoped that once the forest cover is recovered, the climate patterns will be more stable and more predictable enhancing as such, other aspects as the agricultural activities around the country.

Cheaper flights to Kenya

CHEAPER FLIGHTS TO KENYA FROM EUROPE

British airlines mainly Virgin Atlantic and British airways have announced a reduction in their rates for flights to Kenya. This announcement followed major discounts by top tour operators during the new year season. So it might be your chance to engage in that safari that you have always dreamed of. At Clicksafaris, we welcome and congratulate the airlines for this important move as it is a way of opening up the market and creating opportunities to many stakeholders.

We also hope that other airlines will follow suit. The African tourism market holds a tremendous potential and it is true that it has not boasted of having the best airline connections, flight rates have neither been the best as compared to other destinations like the Caribbean. We should not forget that besides the national parks and reserves, Kenya has world class beaches and offers a variety that few countries in the world can boast to have. It is a unique destination where you can enjoy a safari in it’s finest just a few hours drive, away from your beach hotel.

Kenya offers such an unimaginable combination of possibilities that none other market can. A good example is the meetings and conventions segment. With the reduction of airfares, a lot of business might be on the way as hosting meetings and conventions in Kenya is a very attractive option. The wide range of retreats and venues in Kenya make it ideal for business meetings. On another note, the unique concoction of combining meetings and some days out in the Savannah on safari is priceless, but it is the history that backs Kenya and it’s service industry that has served thousands and has helped many families thrive even at hard moments, that deserves a helping hand by the airlines.

We would like to see direct flights from Europe, especially from Spain and Portugal with possible reduction in flight duration and cost as well. There is a great potential everywhere and everything is possible if the Kenyan government could reach an agreement with the major airlines just like the move with Delta airlines. Most visitors from Spain and Portugal have to connect in other European countries before heading to Kenya, that translates to extra costs and also longer flights, in other cases, visitors have had to go through the Emirates and Doha having to endure as long as 16hrs of flight including connection time. This has obviously played a huge role in decision making when it came to choosing Kenya as a preferred holiday destination, but many still want to visit the vast national parks and it’s beaches, it is in the mouths of all, so there is ready business, airlines just have to come up with attractive price packages for various segment to attract more customers. It is time companies realized, this is a real potential

Kenya Ecotourism prize winner 2010

Kenya Consolidates her position as best Ecotourism destination ahead of South Africa and Egypt

Kenya has been named as the top ecotourism destination in the recently ended China International Tourism Trade fair.

Kenya is as a destination is known in it’s great aspect of tourism together with the her cultural diversity, not forgetting sports due to her powerhouse of world class long distance athletes and the best beaches in African crowned with the diversity it can boast along the coast as a result of the diverse civilizations that paved way to what we have now.

After the mess the country plunged into as a result of the general elections in 2007, Kenya has been engaged in several marketing initiatives aiding in it’s recovery as a preferred destination while opening up to new markets especially Eastern Europe and Asia. All these initiatives seem to have earned fruits as the number of tourists has grown as expected, helping business thrive even in such a difficult period.

The path to recovery could not have received a better recognition as the best destination and an example to be followed by the whole world in Ecotourism. I know there is a lot to be done, but I have always told my friends and partners that Kenya as a destination is different from all and is worth visiting at least once in a lifetime. Conserving the national parks and ensuring the animals survive at times in pretty harsh conditions is a lot of work. Kenyans themselves know the importance the fauna has to their livelihoods. If you have been to Kenya you must have heard at times that the King in the savanah is naturally an animal, if you meet one crossing a highway, you are expected to pave way since that is it’s land, you should never expect the reverse….. that makes her people responsible and a huge contributor in conservation.

Kenyans wholeheartedly welcome the prize and welcome all to visit the country and mingle with the locals, enjoy the local cuisine and enjoy the cultural diversity at the same time participating in conserving parks. Our visitors should not also forget that anything they do as they visit the country should leave as little trace as possible so that future generations can also enjoy what we see now. We should not forget to mention that the president has declared this year as the green year for Kenya with an aim to recovering the water catchment areas and the forests up to 10%.

Welcome to Kenya, a safari holiday that will change how you view tourism.

The Kenyan government, through the Minister of finance has made an announcment today that has seen the modification of the visa tariffs as follows: entry visa will stand at US$25, transit at $10, multiple journey visa US $50  and US $5 for a reference fee. This is just one of the moves by the current government calculated at attracting tourists who wish to come to Kenya

Kenya, the land of your dreams

“LIVE, BUT DO NOT SIMPLY LET TIME PASS BY”

Ernest Hemingway, “Green Hills of Africa”

Kenya has always been a preferred destination to most explorers and visitors and in the past 200 years, most have seen themselves adventuring it’s enormous territory. On the other hand, it has always positioned itself so well and as such converted itself into a dream many would like to make true through adventures and stories that have been reflected in an array of novels and in the Hollywood movies like the unforgettable “memories of Africa” a classic of it’s days.

The first images that would click in our imagination, would correspond the wildlife that you can possibly see everywhere in this country, it’s landscapes, vegetation, life or its magnificent sunsets, a diversified culture and not forgetting the hospitality of it’s people in general.

Predators in live hunting scenes, it is survival for the fittest, lions chasing kudus, buffaloes and leopards, giraffes, elephants, hippopotamus….. hunting techniques and mimicry….. everything here acquires a vital significance: kill or get killed, might be termed as a typical definition and law in the African savana, but this is not what Kenya is all about, Kenya is life, culture, colour, traditions, sea and white sand beaches, civilizations.. in Kenya any visitor will have a chance to interact with all these elements which give a true sense to your holidays.

A great experience in a unique country.

We anxiously await to accompany you as you discover this fantastic world.
